What I make:
functional creatures. Jewellery; handmirrors; bowls and plates with unusual sculptural element; table and standard lamp sculptures.

  Materials:
Frameworks of metal and woven wire or cardboard, covered in papier-mâché pulp and/or layers of paper. The pulp contains hardeners and anti-fungicides and is very robust.

  Inspiration:
Inspired by the natural world, including homo sapiens, and cultural myths. Frogs, lizards, birds, and leaf forms feature frequently. I am fascinated by birds and flight, and particularly like the idea of fusion between species - e.g.the theriomorphic gods of ancient Egypt like Osiris, the jackal-headed god who checked the souls of the departed into the underworld; and Aboriginal Australian creation myths.
I deplore the wasteful and polluting elements of our throwaway culture, and like recycling materials. I reuse office paper and florist's tissue and discarded packaging and wire.
